The OB-Xd is a synthesizer that has been designed to recreate the sound and behavior of the Oberheim OB-X. However, the original design of the OB-X was limited in some ways, so the OB-Xd includes a number of additional or altered features. One key feature of the OB-Xd is its implementation of micro random detuning, which helps to create a fuller, richer sound. More GUI Sizes
New 1.25x and 1.75x sizes: Five selectable sizes in total. They are rendered with high-quality Lanczos resampling from high-resolution artwork instead of a soft runtime stretch, so the interface stays sharp.
Sharper 0.75x: The existing 0.75x size now uses the same Lanczos resampling, replacing the previous soft downscale.
Retina-Aware: Assets are generated at your display's true pixel density, so these sizes look crisp on Retina and HiDPI screens, not just standard ones.
Generated Once, Instant After: The first time you pick one of these sizes for a theme, OB-Xd briefly prepares its assets (shown on the LCD) on a background thread — the interface stays responsive — then reuses them instantly afterwards.

Preset Browsing Crash: Fixed a crash that could occur when switching presets after loading or reloading a bank.
LED Readouts: The Voices, Poly and Legato Mode displays now show the correct value at every GUI size on macOS, Windows and Linux, including HiDPI and the new fractional sizes.
Faster Size Switching: Removed a slowdown when changing GUI size on large themes.
Oversampling Label: Fixed a harmless asset-loading warning tied to the oversampling display.

Digging through the confusion: IT'S FREE for personal, non-commecial use. You can download the Mac version from the website and install it. It works. It installs all FOUR versions: AudioUnits, VST, VST3 and Standalone app. It's open source. It's fully 64-bit. You'll need a MIDI keyboard to use the standalone app. - - So what's $49? An optional, good faith commercial use license/EULA good for two computers. Otherwise it's fully functional "Demo" app. There is no copy protection - - Be sure to check out the website in depth. There are a pile for further synths, a sampler, effects and soundware. It's got support, manuals, FAQs, a user forum, video tutorials, the lot! Bravo!
